Q:
How much does a V8stealthbeetle cost?
A:
We offer 4 options for you to choose from:
(1.) A full vehicle starts at US$92,000 (2.) A full roller starts at US$72,000
(3.) An assembled roller starts at US$43,000 (4.) And a Chassis and components starts at US$28,000
Q:
What engine and gearbox can I choose from?
A:
Currently we only build full vehicles with the Chevrolet LS3 6.2l crate engine. However if you are building your own vehicle then the chassis will accommodate the Audi 4.2l V8 ABZ engine. PLEASE do not ask for Porsche, Subaru, Tesla or Golf GTI options… (It’s called V8 for a reason)
Q:
Can you sell me just the chassis and components/kit. What do I get in the kit?
A:
Yes we can, we have over 15 builders around the world currently busy building their own V8stealthbeetles. In the kit you get everything you need to build a V8stealhtbeetle except:
● One donor beetle, preferably 1965 onwards, flat windscreen.
● All the internal finishings like seats, windows etc. These can be taken from your donor vehicle of course or you could replace with new. Depends how you want to finish your vehicle.
● Wheels and tires. 17” and 18″ rims are best. 8” front and 10.5″-12.5″ rear.
● Rear wider fenders are recommended and are available from us as an extra. They are our own design and allow you to put 12.5″ rims on the back. (see pricelist)
● Dashboard. We have designed and built our own dashboard. You can keep the original or we can supply the dash and gauges as extras.
We suggest you watch this video as it explains what you get very well.
Q:
Do I get any help building the kit? Is it difficult?
A:
When you take ownership of your chassis, you won’t be alone. We have a whatsapp group of builders who would have gone through the same process and they are all happy to help and offer advice. As well as this resource you also get access to instruction videos on how to assemble your vehicle. This includes:
● How to cut and prepare your donor body
● How to assemble your components onto the chassis
● How to make the engine compatible with the Getrag transaxle
And you can always contact Jean or Pierre if you have a problem. So if you know your way around a workshop, you should be fine.
Q:
What do you get with the Rolling Chassis?
A:
This option gives you a rolling chassis, with all of the components fitted, including the wiring loom. You will need to source and prepare your own donor body, as well as an engine and transaxle. We supply you with video instruction on how to cut and prepare the body. Perfect if you have access to an original VW Beetle body.
Q:
What do you get with the Full Roller?
A:
This option gives you a full vehicle, without the engine, ECU or transaxle. Perfect, if you want to add your own LS1, LS2 or LS3 and Getrag 6 speed manual transaxle. We supply the adaptor plate, double clutch and pressure plate as well as all the items you will need when placing the engine behind the driver. The body we supply will be in showroom condition, having around 200 man hours of work restoring it with at least 6 layers of paint and lacquer of your choice applied.
Q:
Is the V8stealthbeetle road legal in my State/Country?
A:
An obvious question is around the road legality of the vehicle in your country. The full vehicle we supply is of a standard that it can pass most tests around the world. (In fact our first car that went to Germany passed the TüV test, which is recognised as one of the strictest set of road legal requirements worldwide). Having said that, every Country and State has its own unique set of rules. We suggest you contact someone who has experience in registering such a vehicle locally and see what they require. We can help you with any paperwork or details if needed. To help the process we use OEM suspension and brakes from a BMW M5 and we supply the vehicle with the original VIN number. If you are building your own vehicle from one of our kits, then it is essential that you check first what the legal requirements are to register your finished car locally.
Q:
How long does it take for you to build a full car?
A:
Due to our limited production capacity we have capacity to offer a maximum of around 6 full vehicles and 10 Chassis and component kits each year.
A full car will take around 10-12 months from order to completion, ready for shipping.
Q:
What are your payment terms?
A:
Our terms are simple. 50% deposit and the balance on completion prior to shipping.
Q:
How much is shipping and how long does it take to get to me?
A:
This is a tough one to answer accurately as the world’s shipping lane prices change almost daily. We work with an experienced South African based shipping company and when ready to ship we can help you arranging things. Shipping and import costs will be for your account.
You can factor in approx. US$5000 to ship a crate with the kit in and US$18,000 for a full vehicle
Q:
Sound good, how do I order one?
A:
